Dear is a journaling app that uses AI to reflect back on what you write. It is not therapy, counseling, medical care, or a crisis service. Dear is a companion — a tool for self-reflection. If you are in crisis or thinking about hurting yourself, please contact local emergency services or a crisis line.
You must be 16 or older to use Dear. You're responsible for keeping your login secure and for everything written under your account. One account per person.
Everything you write, the photos you upload, and the intentions you set belong to you. We store them so we can show them back to you and so Dear can respond meaningfully. We don't sell your journal entries. We don't train public AI models on them. See the Privacy Policy for the full picture.
Please don't use Dear to:
Premium is billed monthly or yearly through Stripe. You can cancel anytime — your access continues until the end of the current billing period. Refunds are handled case-by-case; reach out if something feels wrong.
Dear's responses are generated by AI. They can be wrong, off-base, or occasionally strange. Don't treat them as professional advice. You're always the person who knows your life best.
You can delete your account at any time from your Profile. When you do, your entries, messages, photos, facts, and intentions are removed. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms.
Dear is provided "as is." To the extent allowed by law, we're not liable for indirect or consequential damages from using the app. Our total liability won't exceed what you paid us in the last 12 months.
We may update these terms as Dear evolves. If we make a meaningful change, we'll let you know in the app.
