Privacy Policy

The short version

Your journal is private. We store what you write so Dear can respond and so you can come back to it. We don't sell your data. We don't train public AI models on your entries. You can delete everything, anytime, from your Profile.

What we collect

• Account: email, password (hashed), display name
• Journal: entries you write, photos you attach, follow-up messages
• Reflections: intentions you set, things you've told Dear about yourself
• Settings: chosen personality, onboarding answers
• Billing (if Premium): Stripe customer ID and subscription status — payment details live with Stripe, not us

How AI works in Dear

When you write an entry or reply, the contents — along with relevant context (recent entries, your intentions, facts you've told Dear) — are sent to our AI provider to generate a response. The AI provider processes the text to produce a reply and does not retain it for training. Photos may be analyzed to give context to Dear's response. We never share your data with advertisers.

Where your data lives

Entries, photos, and account data are stored securely on Lovable Cloud (which uses Supabase infrastructure). Photos sit in a private storage bucket — only you can see them. Payments go through Stripe.

Your rights

You can, at any time:

• View everything Dear has stored about you (Profile)
• Delete individual facts Dear remembers ("forget" button on Profile)
• Delete individual entries
• Delete your entire account and all related data (Profile → Delete account)
• Export your data — email us and we'll send it within 30 days

Cookies & tracking

We use only what's necessary to keep you logged in. No third-party advertising trackers, no cross-site cookies.

Children

Dear is not for anyone under 16. We don't knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

If we change how we handle your data in any meaningful way, we'll let you know in the app first.
